The Characteristics of Wool (and good friendships)
Durability: Wool fabrics (and good friends) are very durable and flexible.
Small amounts of liquid (or unintended hurts), will run right off.
Comfort: Wool (friendship) is an excellent insulator. It keeps heat close to the body (warms the heart).
Care: Woollen creations (like good friendships) do not require high maintenance.
Flammability: Wool will burn if exposed to flame, but burn slowly. When the flame is removed,
the fabric usually quits burning (good friends are slow to anger, and don’t carry grudges).
Last year I took a trip to Scotland with my daughter and spotted an amazing necklace made entirely of felted woolen beads.
I was smitten.
When I got back home, I found instructions on line and started making jewellery. Soon I was hooked on flat felting as well, and started experimenting with flower corsages. The small discs I used on the back of these blossoms to hide my work soon found a life of their own, as “Muttons” ™ -- decorative badges to adorn hats, lapels and bags.
